Seal safari on the Baltic Sea
Nothing to see in and on the Baltic Sea? Quite the opposite!
If you don’t want to get on the plane or spend a lot of time on holiday, you should definitely plan a sailing trip on a sporty catamaran. Whether for a whole week or just for a short trip – here you have the choice. On board you can actively experience the excitement of catamaran sailing, so lay back and let yourself be surprised…
Starting point & day trips in MV
You will start in the Rostock city harbour or join us in Warnemünde on the Baltic coast and sail on the sea under 100 sqm sails.
You can hardly get to know Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from another side on the Baltic Sea. Either you take a day trip and sail to Kühlungsborn or past “Fischland-Darss-Zingst” in the direction of Rügen.
The seal safari
From Rostock you head for the southernmost tip of Scandinavia near Gedser – Denmark and visit the isolated sandbank Rødsand (Red Sand) with its fascinating inhabitants. The western end of this flat sandy island was established with a seal shelter. The protected area is one of the most important habitats and breeding grounds for seals in the entire Baltic Sea – and the starting point for Denmark’s largest grey seal colony.
While the TONIA lies close to the long sandbank at anchor, you can refresh yourself in the Baltic Sea and explore the sandbank with a stand-up paddle board or swim in close contact with the seals to the island. From there the seals can be observed up close.
In the evening everyone enjoys cooking together and enjoying culinary delicacies at the sundowner on the large deck, so that everyone gets a good taste. Afterwards let yourself pleasantly fall asleep in one of the 11 berths on board. Then start the next day with a freshly brewed coffee and 360 degree sea view. After a relaxed breakfast the catamaran takes you back on the 44 feet long runners across the sea towards Rostock.
If you´re up for more action, you can easily contact the same address. Charter and Sail also offers tours (website in German) to various sandbanks and coasts in the Baltic Sea. Whether kitesurfing, windsurfing, wave surfing or an experienced dive – there is something for every water sportsman. This is just the right thing for all water sports enthusiasts, hobby biologists and water safari lovers. No matter if young or old!
